Cannabis Cultivation Jobs
Working in cannabis cultivation
Cultivation covers the full grow cycle: propagation, vegetation, flower, harvest and post-harvest. Teams range from hands-on cultivation technicians to section growers, IPM specialists and head growers/directors of cultivation. MariJobs currently lists 97 open roles in the Cultivation category — about 8% of the 1,287 live cannabis jobs on the board (September 2026) — plus trimming and harvest roles on the post-harvest side.
Common cultivation roles
- Cultivation Technician / Grow Tech — daily plant work: transplanting, pruning, trellising, watering, sanitation. The main entry-level role.
- Trimmer / Post-Harvest Technician — bucking, trimming, drying, packaging.
- Section / Lead Grower — owns rooms or zones, steering climate, feed and IPM programs.
- IPM / Plant Health Specialist — pest and disease monitoring and treatment within state pesticide rules.
- Head Grower / Director of Cultivation — yields, schedules, SOPs and team management.
Requirements
- Entry roles: usually no cannabis experience required — horticulture, agriculture, nursery or greenhouse experience is the standard substitute.
- State worker permit and 21+ in most adult-use states.
- Senior grower roles expect demonstrable crop-cycle experience and environmental-control knowledge.
How to apply

- For entry roles, emphasize sanitation discipline and schedule reliability.
What about pay?
Pay transparency is still limited in cannabis: only 23 of 1,287 live listings on MariJobs disclose any salary figure (as of September 2026) — too small a sample for reliable ranges. Always confirm compensation on the individual listing before applying.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get a cannabis cultivation job with no experience?
Apply to cultivation technician and trimmer roles — they are the industry's entry points. Greenhouse, nursery, agriculture or landscaping experience is the most commonly accepted substitute, and most adult-use states require a worker permit and minimum age of 21.
What does a cultivation technician do?
Daily plant work across the grow cycle: transplanting, pruning, trellising, watering, sanitation, and often harvest and post-harvest processing. It is the most common cultivation role title.
Are cultivation jobs near me?
Cultivation is licensed state by state, so jobs cluster in legal-market states and often in greenhouse/agricultural regions rather than city centers. Browse the live listings on this page and filter by location.
